Wicked Wendy
After watching the finale of Project Runway, I did this PhotoShop collage with altered orgami paper, old magazine ads, and the font Kiddie Cocktails from FontDiner.com. Although I put skulls on the girls' dresses, it still looks like it needs something else...daggers coming out of their eyes maybe.
I wasn't really interested in Project Runway when everyone else was watching it, but Russ with his usual foresight, Tivo-ed it for me. I couldn't believe how evil and erratic Wendy was and kept wondering if they paid her to act that way. If Wendy and Kara Saun hadn't been fighting the whole last show, they would have had trouble filling two hours, but it gave me heartburn.
But in the end it was worth it to see Jay win. I loved what the judges said, about his work seeming original and straight from inside of him, very unique and not too serious. That part was very uplifting.

Sigh.
I liked Wendy. Atleast I liked her better than many of the other contestants. And I DIDN'T like Kara.
Why was it that everyone else was called by their nickname... Jay, Wendy, Kevin, etc... and she was not called just kara but Kara Saun?? It's not like there were more than one there, and they needed to distinguish between them. (oo.. that's the debra/debbie/deb problem showing).
Oh, well. I'm sure all the finalists will be successful in their own way. I see that Wendy does have her own store and website.. and I'm sure that ms. K either does or will...
Sorry Dar, Maybe because I just started in the middle, I didn't get the full picture of Wendy. But you have to admit, it made a great title!
I had planned on that fateful Saturday to go in to work...but it was the same day our beautiful new 27" screen tv was delivered. After 19 years with the 20", we felt justified in our purchase...well...I was channel surfing and happened upon Bravo's replay of the entire "Project Runway" series...10am...still on couch in pjs glued to tv...11am...changed into clean sweats for trip to office, brushed teeth in between commercials, 12pm...still watching, have shoes on, pbj made, keys in hand, ready to leave at a moment's notice...1pm...who are we kidding? I want to see all of them and decide work at the office can wait until Monday...2pm-7pm...rear end goes numb from sitting so long, unable to tear away from the tv, ate pbj, made popcorn, overwhelmed by those who can take one medium and create art in another..."I was looking at the beautiful fall leaves and foliage..." and then can transform those images into a clothing line...agree with you, the Wendy/Kara Saun ranting and ravings were icky...needed to crochet throughout so I would have something to show for the day after watching almost 10 hours straight...decided that I needed to start wearing more makeup & should be pressing clothes more-heartbroken that I'll never be as pretty as Austin...also realized that my name and the word "haute couture" would probably never be used in the same sentence. Finally I was motivated to consider dying my headphones a beautiful color after seeing how Jay used them in his design...I may, at least, be destined to be the prettiest pilot around. Love you! Debbie D.
