Just down the street from Bruce's studio in Oakland is
The Crucible. It's a huge building with an amazing array of community art classes including metal, glass, neon and jewelry. Some of the more interesting offerings include fire dancing and fire eating. Someday I'd like to see some of these fire art performances at a
Burning Man festival.

I have some friends who work with fire - breathers and poi dancers (fire spinners) - very gorgeous work... but burning man is, as far as I understand it, a *whole different can of beans* - I have a friend who regularly goes, and it sounds like quite the anthropological adventure!
Thanks for the link to your friend Bruce's work - his acrylics are lucid - literally - and some of his wood pieces look like geodesic domes in utero.
