Illustration Friday: Lost

Anyone remember the song Lost in the Supermarket by the Clash? "I'm all lost in the supermarket, I can no longer shop happily...:

I've been wanting to do a supermarket drawing for a while because I hate grocery shopping so much, so this came to mind when I saw the Illustration Friday theme this week. You can click here for a bigger version. If I make this into a quilt, it would be the biggest ever. I just keep wanting to add stuff, like more funky produce and the meat cutter man. Hhmm, I may have to figure out a different layout to fit more in!

I always found that song so sad. I often feel overwhelmed when I have to shop without a list especially if I am hungry. Nice one!

I like this one (gee what a surprise, I love them all!!).

I don't know about store.. one of the frustrating things about mine: in the salad dressing aisle they have 5 shelves of Ranch Dressing... and one shelf for every thing else. It's an "all ranch all the time" kind of store...

This is great! It's actually one of the reasons I always shop at the same store. It always takes me about 3 times longer if I don't know where everything is. I usually say that I'm preparing for alzheimers--because change scares me.

In this piece in particular I'm seeing some Al Hirschfeld influence. especially in the long wiggly arm. Are you a fan of his? I really like his stuff... and yours

Good job!

I like your simple colour pallet and how you have included the fluescence of the lighting! Everything has a unusual glow and clarity because of them in stores. I like your labels also :)

Pam, this must be a universal pet peeve. I loathe grocery shopping...what kinda deal is that whole thing. You gotta figure out what to buy, put it in a cart, carry it out to your car, carry it into your house, put it away and don't forget...no matter what I go for every trip is always a hundred dollars. Love both of the new works...but then again love them all. Your work is so fresh in both meanings of the word.

I love this as an illustration and I think it would make an awesome large quilt. You could have so much fun with all the STUFF on the shelves and all the different textures! You even make a boring activity look interesting.

(Love the bathtub WIP too)

How about one of those produce tables, where it looks like if one orange is dislodged, the whole pyramid will come tumbling down? Just a thought. I love the picture!
