Viking Mega Quilter

Here's a photo of my new Viking Mega Quilter next to my Bernina Artista 180. You can see how much bigger the area under the arm is. Great for quilting bigger projects. I won a Viking Quilt Designer II and although it's a great machine, it duplicates many things on my Bernina that I never use. So I traded it in for the Mega Quilter and Inspira Frame (the frame probably won't be in until January :( Will have to give you a review of that later.
So far I've only used the new Mega Quilter on one project, but it only took one hour to quilt a background that I estimated would take about four -- it's really fast. But maybe not so good for really detailed work. We'll see after I get more practice.

It looks very much like my Babylock Professional Quilter. Seems abpit the same size. I love doing big no brainer quilting with it. But I love my bernina for the more intricate quilting.
PS: I think mine is made by Juki - it is all metal - no plastic parts.
New machine=Oooooooooooo
Happy New Year Pam. I enjoy your site and have a guy coming over this arvo to help get my www.helengodden.com up and working. The photo in your studio of your neice and nephew made me cry...it looks like a shop, with such a stash..you are thw winner girl. I am aboutto get a huge new studio rather than working frommy shoebox.
So you swapped the won you won for the big boy? looks great. I am still yet to receive ny Husqvarna...I rang the aussie agent and asked for my free machine( which is a kinda awkward thing to do) and I still have not seen a machine. I have almost finished my Imagine That entry onmy Bernina....so thats that I guess.

I have the Janome 1600P. It is the same as the Viking Mega Quilter and others like it. They are all made by Janome. I love mine.
I have the Mega Quilter, bought about a year ago and really like it. Do many customised quilts commercially on it, don't have frame. Just fits in my Horn Quilt Queen cabinet for flat bed sewing. Only glitch I've had is needle up/down failing intermittently which is really annoying when it does happen and that's only occured recently. My mechanic can't find a thing wrong, little darling won't miss a beat under examination.
Wonder if anyone else has had trouble? Otherwise she's a great workhorse especially for huge quilts. Have fun with yours!

Does the cover plate that covers the feed dogs on the Janome 1600and the Viking Mega quilter present any disadvantage over the Juki TL98Q and the Pfaff Grand Quilter which has a drop feature for the feed dogs.
I just brought The Mega Quilter from Husqvarna Viking and haven;t used it- can you email me how much it was???
